Hi, I'm John Alsop and this is my website. I work at AMD Research in Bellevue, WA. I grew up in Minnesota, went to undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, got my PhD from the University of Illinois working in Sarita Adve's lab, and I now live in Seattle, WA.
My research interests lie in computer architecture, heterogeneous computing, memory coherence and consistency, and parallel programming models. My current work aims to improve the efficiency of emerging heterogeneous memory systems.
My other passions include movies, trivia night, snowboarding, hiking, pool, darts, beer, card games, yard games, board games, video games, and generally spending time with friends and family enjoying any of the above. In particular, I like to enjoy those things with my wife Rory and my dog Maeby.
